Background

The rise of flexible work arrangements during the COVID-19 pandemic relied heavily on video calls as a substitute for in-person meetings. However, the lack of proper home office setups with subpar equipment compromised clear communication and professionalism. Blurred work-life boundaries emphasized the importance of privacy and conducive work environments, while limiting effective remote work capabilities.

Work From Home?

A core finding was the amount of ad-hoc solutions that existed. From finance to freelance, the permanence of peoples desks had a wide span.

The project scope was narrowed down to digital communication, and specifically video calls. Existing products in this space are predictably shaped as “tech”-products and often lack integration.

Light Design

Taking inspiration from photography, several experiments were conducted to find the optimal solution for flattering illumination and optimal space-efficiency.
